This series includes all the fragrance of “Little Trees”, the iconic car air freshener. Produced with copy paper to create the faded outlines of an image, each tree is colored in a different color. Alongside their company’s fragrance titles, the series creates a viewing experience led by a visual-linguistic-olfactory synesthesia.

“Karen Dolev's series Little Trees repeats the image of an industrial product, capturing all fragrances of the well-knownair freshener shaped as an evergreen. The faded pastel colorationrefers to the coloration of the product itself or to an imaginary coloration, which the artist associated with the marketing title of each of the artificial fragrances. The fragile quality of the paper and the delicacy of the one-off drawing ostensibly reinstate the strong-scented artificial industrial product with the clarity of the forest air. At the same time, the image of the artificial tree, copied in detail using carbon paper, draws away from that clarity.”
